The Maiden and the Little Tree

The beautiful maiden arose out of the grass like a soft mist. She stopped, mere inches from the small tree’s face. “I saw what you did.” She said tenderly.

“Saw… saw what?” the tree stuttered, suddenly very nervous.

She smiled lightly. “I saw you try to grow a flower.”

He looked away. “Who? Me? Why would I try to grow a flower?” he asked trying to sound nonchalant.

“That is what I would like to know.” She said as a small breeze blew her hair around, tickling his bark.

Rustling sounds could be heard from the nearby trees as they tried to contain their amusement.

Little tree looked at the maiden shyly. He opened and closed his mouth as he tried to think of something to say.

She leaned over and kissed his cheek. “Thank you. I love flowers.”

Oh, if only trees could blush.

The little flicker of romance shines so brightly from within these delicate words. Sweet and uncorupted by great lengths of writing make this a joy to stumble upon :+fav:
